Glass barrier fails to stop robber at White Elk Motel

An armed man pointed his gun through an Elkridge motel check-in window and robbed the business of cash Monday night, Howard County police said.

The robber -- bent on not letting a glass barrier constructed to prevent robberies hinder him -- simply put his handgun through the opening at the White Elk Motel in the 6100 block of U.S. 1 about 11:15 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk, police said.

The robber was described as a black male in his late 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He wore a black leather jacket and blue jeans, police said.
