Two women thwart purse-snatching attempts

Two women managed to keep teens from snatching their purses in separate attacks in Columbia's Town Center Friday night, Howard County police said.

In the first case, police said a 43-year-old Columbia women was walking to her car in the 10200 block of Wincopin Circle about 7 p.m. when three juveniles approached her from behind and one of them grabbed her purse. The woman struggled to hold on and the teen let go and ran away with the others, police said.

Later, teens approached a 60-year-old Columbia woman outside Hecht's at the mall and tried to take her purse, police said. The teens ran away when they failed, police said.

Police were investigating the incidents.

Dorsey's Search: 5300 block of Columbia Road: Someone broke a rental office window at an apartment complex and stole a copier Friday or Saturday, police said.
