"A Family Apart" by Joan Lowery Nixon. It's about a woman who can't support her family so she sends her kids on an orphan train going west. They learn things about being separated. It's pretty good. So far we've read about where they live and they are very poor so it's depressing. It's 162 pages, that's not long for what I usually read.
