A Washington man has been charged in the robberies of two gas stations near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in September, police said.

Rhasheam Carpenter, 19, of the 4700 block of E. Capitol St. N.E. turned himself in at the Eastern District police station Thursday afternoon, police said.

He was charged with armed robbery in holdups at Colony Seven Shell in the 8200 block of Annapolis Junction in Jessup on Sept. 18 and Fort Meade Texaco at Route 175 and Rockenbach Road on Sept. 25. The stations are within a half-mile of each other.

Mr. Carpenter also is a suspect in the robbery of Parkway Shell in the 2700 block of Annapolis Road on Sept. 19, police said.

Three men were involved in the Colony Severn Shell station robbery, and two men held up the other stations, police said. The bandits stole from $300 to $500.

Victims in the robberies identified Mr. Carpenter from a photo lineup as one of the assailants, police said.

Officers also obtained a video surveillance tape from one of the robberies, police said.
