Baltimore man charged with theft of VCRs

November 17, 1995

Police arrested a Baltimore man Wednesday and charged him with stealing two videocassette recorders worth more than $500 from the Ames department store in the 8100 block of Ritchie Highway, county police said.

Store security guards William Long and Jefferson Golas told police that they saw the man take the VCRs, valued at $280 each, from a store display in the electronics department and put them in a cart about 4 p.m. Wednesday. The man quickly walked out of the store without paying, prompting the guards to detain him, police said.

Police arrested Russell Brooks, 37, of the 900 block of Parrish St. in Baltimore and charged him with felony theft.
