Church services to discuss bonding among black men

St. John Baptist Church will sponsor a series of activities to celebrate its annual Men's Day Observance Saturday and Sunday. The theme will be "Intergenerational Bonding of the African American Male."

* Saturday, a prayer breakfast will be held at the Fort Meade

Officer's Club. The Rev. Calvin Butts, pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York, will speak.

Mr. Butts crusades to stop rap music from depicting women negatively.

* Sunday, a worship service will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center. The Rev. Jason Clark of Los Angeles will talk about 20- to 30-year-old men.

Civil rights leader Julian Bond will speak at 4 p.m. about intergenerational bonding.
