Planners review proposal for 76-acre subdivision

County planners are reviewing a proposal for a 76-acre subdivision at the corner of Driver and Marriottsville roads in Marriottsville.

The subdivision, to be called Woodford's Grant, would have 22 home sites and be developed by Columbia-based Land Design & Development Inc. The land is zoned "rural conservation," which allows one home for every 4 1/4 acres on lots as small as 1 acre in exchange for leaving large tracts of land permanently protected from development.

The Woodford's Grant plan is complicated by the fact that to build all 22 homes, its developer will have to pay for another west county property to remain undeveloped.
