Man charged with assault in throwing of cash register

November 14, 1995

County police arrested a Millersville man on assault charges Saturday after a cash register was thrown at an employee of a Glen Burnie Pizza Hut.

Police said a man walked into the restaurant in the 7900 block of Crain Highway shortly after 2 p.m. complaining about a pizza he ordered that day. The man knocked all the trays to the floor when he walked in the door, then began yelling and cursing, police said.

The manager, Eric Gellert, offered to make the man another pizza, and later gave the man a refund, police said.

As Mr. Gellert gave the customer his money and turned to cut another pizza, the man threw the cash register, hitting Mr. Gellert on the right leg, police said.

Mr. Gellert called police, who charged Paul Christopher Lee, 27, of the 500 block of Belmawr Place in Millersville with assault and malicious destruction. Mr. Gellert refused medical treatment.
