Terps defeat Old Dominion, 1-0, in NCAA field hockey tournament

Tricia Burdt (St. Paul's) scored seven minutes into the second half to lift No. 2 Maryland over No. 6 Old Dominion, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA field hockey tournament yesterday in College Park.

Maryland advanced to the Final Four in Winston-Salem, N.C., and will play Northeastern.

Lafayette 4, Loyola 3: Geddes Alexander scored his second goal at 8:19 of sudden-death, triple overtime to lift host Lafayette (11-6-2) over Loyola in an NCAA tournament play-in game in Easton, Pa.

0 The loss ended the season for Loyola (15-6).
