Community group to discuss plan for new school

THE BROOKLYN HEIGHTS Improvement Association will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Brooklyn Park Library, 1 E. 11th Ave. Representatives from the Department of Education and the Department of Recreation will be there to discuss plans for the new Park Elementary School along with the principal. Plan to attend this informative meeting.

Christmas Dinner Musical

Making plans for the holidays? Brooklyn United Methodist Church, Fourth Street and Pontiac Avenue, will sponsor a Christmas Dinner Musical at 6 p.m. Dec. 9. Entertainment will be presented by the Notables, a 40-member music group from the American Association of Retired Persons.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. For more information, call 355-8740.

Children's Book Week

Celebrate Children's Book Week. Children between the ages of 2 and 6 are invited to share their favorite book at 10 a.m. Saturday at Children's Book Week Storytime at the Brooklyn Park Library, 1 E. 11th Ave. Children can also hear their favorite stories and make their own bookmarks.

Visitation day

Belle Grove Elementary School parents are reminded that Parent/Guardian Visitation Day will be held from 8:10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. Stop in and see what a day at school is like.

Book fair

Brooklyn Park Elementary School is holding a book fair this week. There will be evening hours for parents and students from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Keep the holidays in mind by making purchases.

* The Schoolwide Skate Party is from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. today at Skate City II in Crofton. Admission is $2.75, plus $1.25 for skate rental. Parents not skating do not have to pay. Plan to attend.

Parents Visitation Day

Tomorrow is Parents Visitation Day at North County High School. Parents are invited to attend classes with their child and dine in the cafeteria. Be sure to bring a copy of your child's schedule and register in the main office before going to your child's class.

* The National Honor Society will sponsor a Burger King Night from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Burger King on Nursery Road. Proceeds will benefit the society.

* Band Parents will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Band Room.

All parents interested in chaperoning the spring trip to Orlando, Fla., are encouraged to attend this meeting.

Glasses collected

The Brooklyn Lions Club answered the call to help the needy and collected 380 pairs of discarded glasses and five hearing aides from local businesses, churches, senior citizen centers and personal donations. The items were then sorted and given to people who needed them.

The club meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at Club 4100 on Fourth Street in Brooklyn.
