The Howard County Teachers' Association is looking for an increase in the classroom materials budget, as well as in teachers' salaries. County Executive Omar Jones pointed out budget woes that would make it "difficult to grant increases [to county teachers] as we have done in the past."

50 years ago (week of Nov. 4-10, 1945)

The Howard County Sanitary Commission announced this week that the "prospects of securing both water and sewer services in Ellicott City seem bright."
