No. 5 Oakland Mills (7-2) at Howard (5-4)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: The Scorpions are looking forward to playing under the lights before a big crowd. They have a lot at stake. Although they have clinched a tie for their second straight county title, they can win it outright with a victory here. They also need this victory to make the state playoffs.

Last week's 7-6 victory over Hammond catapulted the Scorpions into a tie with Potomac for the No. 1 seed in the Class 2A South Region.

Scorpions QB Irving Conwell leads the county in passing with 57 completions in 118 attempts for 1,116 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Howard will be playing for pride and a winning season. The Lions remember losing the county championship to Oakland Mills last season, 19-18.

Howard lost to Wilde Lake last week, 35-0.

No. 15 Hammond (7-2) at No. 13 Atholton (7-2)

Time: 2 p.m.

Outlook: This is the biggest game for Atholton in 10 years. A victory may lift the Raiders into the playoffs for the first time since 1985. They are currently ninth in an eight-team playoff picture, and will be hoping for a loss by Randallstown, Frederick Douglass, Crossland or Thomas Johnson.

If Oakland Mills gets upset by Howard tonight, then a victory would give Atholton a share of the county title -- its first since 1976.

Atholton has won four straight and tuned up for this one with a 37-0 victory over Mount Hebron last week. RB Ricky Trott rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns and QB Jason Sandner ran for 57 yards and one touchdown.

Hammond's playoff hopes are slim after last week's 7-6 loss to Oakland Mills. But the Bears could tie a school record for most wins in a season. Hammond beat Atholton last season, 26-7.

Wilde Lake (6-3) at Centennial (5-4)

Time: 2 p.m.

Outlook: This is an interesting match-up from the standpoint of common opponents. Wilde Lake lost to South Carroll, 27-12. Centennial defeated South Carroll, 26-14. But the Eagles have a hard time beating Wilde Lake. They lost last season, 31-20.

Both teams are coming off wins.

Wilde Lake defeated Howard, 35-0, as RB Dain Lewis scored four touchdowns.

Centennial topped Glenelg, 38-12, as George Mitroka caught five passes for 113 yards.

Glenelg (2-7)at Mount Hebron (2-7)

Time: 2 p.m.

Outlook: This is a battle to escape last place. Neither team has a league victory. Mount Hebron has come close twice with a 7-6 loss to Howard and a 14-6 loss to Hammond. Glenelg has lost by at least 26 points to every league opponent.

Mount Hebron has more incentive. If the Vikings lose, it would be their fifth straight season without a league victory.

Glenelg defeated Mount Hebron last season, 31-6.
