Worker leaving restaurant foils robbery try

November 10, 1995

A Glen Burnie man thwarted a robbery attempt Wednesday when he kneed his assailant and sent him running, county police said.

Charles E. James, 43, told police that he and another employee were accosted before 10:30 p.m. after they left through the back door of Morrison's cafeteria in the 100 block of Jennifer Road in Annapolis, after closing time. He said a man with a white towel around his hand jumped from behind a trash bin. When the assailant demanded the store's night deposit, Mr. James hit him with his knee. The man ran across a lot of Annapolis Mall, police said.
