In 1871, journalist-explorer Henry M. Stanley found Scottish missionary David Livingstone in central Africa. Stanley delivered his famous greeting: "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"

In 1989, workers began punching a hole in the Berlin Wall, a day after East Germany abolished its border restrictions.
