Beth Shalom to offer memorial to slain Israeli leader Friday

Beth Shalom will offer a memorial tribute to slain Israeli leader Yitzhak Rabin at 8 p.m. Friday.

Rabbi Seymour Essrog will lead the Taylorsville congregation in commemorative prayers.

Members will light a memorial candle in honor of the prime minister, who was buried in Jerusalem Monday.

"Religious fanatics are the bane of the world," the rabbi said of the act of terrorism. "If they don't agree with you, they kill you."

He said he hoped the peace process would continue.

His said his congregation is distraught over the assassination but that "we will survive and move forward."
