Salisbury sacks Catholic for 12-2 victory

NEW HAVEN, CONN. — SALISBURY -- George Mayer kicked field goals of 30 and 33 yards in the first half and Daron Wimbish scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter to lift Salisbury State to a 12-2 victory before 2,443 homecoming fans at Sea Gull Stadium.

The Sea Gulls (6-2) held Catholic (4-3-1) to 161 yards of total offense and recorded three sacks.

Mayer opened the scoring with a 30-yard field goal at 9:49 of the first quarter, capping an 11-play, 35-yard opening drive. Mayer's second field goal 3 1/2 minutes before halftime followed a blocked punt by Reggie Baker.

New Haven 34, Bowie 0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Jesse Showerda passed for 236 yards and two touchdowns to lead the New Haven past Bowie State before 1,451 at Frank Field. The Chargers (8-0-1) are ranked third in Division II.

The Bulldogs (3-7) was led by quarterback Darrell Foote, who completed 13 of 23 passes for 138 yards.
