No. 8 Patapsco needs shootout to defeat Pikesville in playoffs

Host No. 8 Patapsco (12-2-1) ended a 2-2 stalemate with Pikesville in a Class 2A North regional quarterfinal by winning the shootout, 9-7.

Patapsco's Joe Pedrick sent the game into overtime with 15 minutes left in the game. Mike Grffith made nine saves, one more than Pikesville's Aaron Bennehue.

Patapsco (12-2-1) faces host Overlea Friday.

* C.M. Wright 2, Kenwood 0: Matt Lemaire scored a goal and made an assist as visiting No. 10 C.M. Wright (8-3-1) shut out Kenwood in Class 3A North quarterfinal action.

Host C.M. Wright faces Parkville Thursday, 5:15.

* Franklin 2, Dundalk 1 (OT): Chris Hunt took a pass from Gene Balbir in overtime and scored as Franklin (8-3-3) advanced to the Class 3A North semifinals.

* North Harford 8, Aberdeen 2: Ryan Renfrow had two goals and two assists to lead host North Harford (9-4-1) over Aberdeen in a Class 2A North quarterfinal.

* Overlea 3, Owings Mills 2: John Cioka scored on a header off a corner kick with three minutes left as visiting Overlea (10-3-1) eliminated Owings Mills (3-9-1) in a Class 2A North quarterfinal.

* Parkville 8, Eastern Tech 2: Joe Halford scored four times and Andrew Bailey added a hat trick as Parkville (9-3-1) routed host Eastern Tech (1-11-1) in a Class 3A North quarterfinal.

* Perry Hall 1, Dulaney 0: No. 14 Perry Hall (10-2-1) ended a draw by winning the shootout 7-4 in a Class 4A North quarterfinal game.

* Rising Sun 2, Edgewood 0: Visiting Edgewood (2-10-1) allowed a goal in each half and fell out of the Class 1A North tournament in the first round.

* Sparrows Point 12, Harford Tech 0: Sean Volz scored five goals to lead host Sparrows Point (9-4-1) to a Class 1A North Region quarterfinal win over Harford Tech.

* Towson 1, Lansdowne 0: Josh Westerfelt scored in the second half off a cross from Adam Wierman to lead Towson (6-5-2) over Lansdowne (4-8-1) in a Class 2A North quarterfinal game.
