Two men stole a Severn man's car at gunpoint Saturday as he parked it in front of his home in the 8200 block of Autumn Lake Court in Severn, county police said. Officers found the car Monday abandoned along the southbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway south of the Route 197 exit.

John William Butler had pulled his 1981 Buick LeSabre into a spot in front of his house shortly before 10:30 p.m. when the men approached him and asked if he had a cigarette.

One of the men stood on the passenger side of the car, pointed a long rifle at Mr. Butler and ordered him out of the car, police said. The pair then fled down Indian Drive toward Pioneer Drive in the car, police said.
