Down Time

October 29, 1995|By Vida Roberts | Vida Roberts,Sun Fashion Editor

The American designer collections get international attention. At the shows, which kicked off last week, we see glamorous strutting and vamping and a throbbing energy on the runways. However, in the crush and frenzy that precedes a show there are small islands of quiet. As models wait to be transformed into yet another designer's vision of the look of the moment, there are tranquil times. Some models depend on a book to carry them chapter by chapter from show to show. Some make lists to help them sort through a heavy fashion-week schedule. Others stretch and sprawl, welcoming a chance to be off their feet.

Even divas need down time.
