Man charged with forging two checks

October 26, 1995

A New Windsor man was arrested Tuesday and charged with passing two checks taken from the Taneytown area, Sheriff John H. Brown said.

Sheriff Brown said his office arrested a man on a warrant charging him with violating probation. The man had a pocketful of cash and deputies became suspicious, police said.

Officers said they received information that linked the man to the theft of $5,000 from Union National Bank Finksburg branch this month. Investigators said two blank checks were forged and passed at the Finksburg bank.

One check was submitted Oct. 6 for $500 and the second Oct. 10 for $4,500.

Roy Edward Redifer, 32, of the 100 block of Church St. was charged with two counts each of felony theft, forgery and uttering forged documents. He was being held in lieu of $15,000 bond at Carroll County Detention Center.
