Pigford's 2 TDs carry Bowie State to 20-7 win over Winston-Salem State

BRIDGEWATER, VA. — BOWIE -- Freshman Ryan Pigford scored two touchdowns and Bowie State limited Winston-Salem State to 180 yards en route to a 20-7 victory yesterday in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association game.

Bowie State (3-5, 3-4) limited Richard Huntley, the CIAA's leading rusher, to 52 yards on 17 carries. Huntley, who came in averaging 215 yards a game, was ejected late in the third quarter.

Pigford broke a 7-7 tie with 1:29 left in the quarter on a 31-yard touchdown run, capping a three-play, 37-yard drive. Pigford, who rushed for 53 yards, scored on a 6-yard run early in the fourth quarter for Winston-Salem (2-4-2, 2-3-2).

Bowie State rushed for 207 yards.

Frostburg 14, B'water 10

BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Frostburg State scored all its points in the first quarter and held off Bridgewater.

With 12:35 remaining in regulation, Bridgewater (0-7), losers of 21 consecutive games, drove the ball from its 22-yard line to Frostburg's 34, before Randall Beamon (Poly) was hit and stripped by the Bobcats (4-3).
