Auxiliary gives $80,000 for new maternity center

The Carroll County General Hospital Auxiliary recently gave $80,000 gift to the CCGH Foundation in support of the Family Birthplace, a $2.4 million maternity center under construction at the hospital.

The donation was made during the organization's annual meeting in September.

In the past year, the auxiliary has raised $143,000 for donation to the hospital.

Members raised the money through such functions as the Tree of Lights, the Silvery Moon Ball, theater outings, a fashion show, quilt raffle and bake sales.

The auxiliary also operates the hospital's gift shop and donates proceeds from all sales to support patient care services and programs.

This past year, auxiliary money helped pay for projects such as $50,000 toward parking lot construction on Center Street and $3,022 for new wheelchairs for the hospital lobby.

An additional $10,00 helped to buy a frozen yogurt machine in the cafeteria.
