Redskins' G Johnson, S Washington sidelined

October 19, 1995|By VITO STELLINO

Washington Redskins guard Tre Johnson and safety James Washington are likely to join wide receiver Michael Westbrook on the sidelines Sunday for the game against the Detroit Lions.

Johnson, who missed last week's game with a sprained ankle, didn't practice yesterday and coach Norv Turner said it's unlikely he'll play against the Lions. Washington, who has missed the last three games with a strained groin, also didn't practice and Turner said he'll only see limited action if he can go.

Westbrook will be sidelined for four to six weeks with a sprained knee and will be replaced by Leslie Shepherd.

Vernice Smith will start at guard for Johnson and Keith Taylor will replace Washington.
