A North Carroll High School senior was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after he was extricated from his auto after a two-car crash on Hampstead-Mexico Road (Route 482) yesterday afternoon.
James R. Hudgins Jr., 17, of the 2600 block of Bert Fowler Road in Manchester was driving a Jeep west on Route 482 at 2:50 p.m. when another 17-year-old, driving a Honda CRX, pulled out of Brodbeck Road. The Honda collided with the rear of the Jeep, causing the Hudgins youth to lose control of the vehicle, which swerved across the center line, down an embankment and overturned.
The Jeep came to rest on its wheels, but the top was crushed. Rescue teams from Hampstead cut the top off the vehicle to free the Hudgins youth.
