Key's Greene scores record 8 goals in 12-0 win

October 17, 1995

Stacey Greene scored a school-record eight goals and also had three assists as visiting Francis Scott Key routed Catoctin, 12-0, in field hockey yesterday.

Greene broke the old record of five goals in a game, set by Cindy Zyle in 1977.

The Eagles also established a team record for goals in a game, eclipsing the old mark of 11.

* Girls soccer: Senior Beth Blasi scored two first-half goals, and No. 1 Fallston held off host No. 2 C. Milton Wright, 2-1, in a battle of 9-0 teams.

The goals raised Blasi's season total to 14. When Erin Lesh converted a short pass from Jamie Gerhart into a goal with 18 minutes left in the game, it marked only the second score against the Cougars and goalkeeper Emily Weibel this season.
