Libraries take reservations for meetings

Anne Arundel County Public Library branches have started taking reservations for use of their meeting rooms. Bookings are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Use of the rooms is free. Reservations are limited to nonprofit groups. Meetings must be held during library hours. The rooms are not available on Sundays.

Crofton branch hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call (410) 222-7915 or (301) 261-3909 to make a reservation.

Odenton branch hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Call (410) 222-6722 to make a

reservation.

Honoring volunteers

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold its 34th annual Meet Your Neighbor and Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon Oct. 26 at the Ramada Hotel BWI Airport. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and features the annual awards presented to outstanding citizens in west Anne Arundel County.

A police officer, a firefighter, a teacher and a member of military will be honored, along with a Business of the Year. All chamber volunteers will be honored. The President's Award will be given to a chamber volunteer for exemplary service to the West Anne Arundel chamber.

The luncheon costs $15 and includes a choice of grilled chicken, London broil or a vegetable plate. Reservations are required by Monday and may be made by calling the chamber at (410) 672-3422. The public is invited.

Vaccines offered

The Anne Arundel County Health Department will offer flu and pneumococcal vaccines from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road.

The shots are free, but a $5 donation is appreciated. Medicare will cover the suggested donation for both vaccines for those eligible. Appointments are not necessary.

The department also has opened a flu and pneumococcal vaccine information line, (410) 222-7343. Operators are available to answer questions on the vaccines and the immunization clinics from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays.
