October 13, 1995

The Howard County NAACP and the Columbia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will register voters from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at Roslyn Rise Housing Development, 10339 Twin Rivers Road.

The event, featuring entertainment and refreshments, is part of a five-year partnership between the NAACP and Delta Sigma Theta aimed at registering 10,000 Howard County voters by the year 2000.

Speakers will include Leonard Vaughn, administrator of the Howard County Department of Housing and Community Development; state Dels. Frank S. Turner and Elizabeth Bobo; and County Councilwoman Mary C. Lorsung.

This fall, the groups will register voters at several developments owned and managed by Columbia Housing Corp., which specializes in housing for low- and moderate-income renters.

Other registration drive sites will include Fall River Terrace, Rideout Heath, Waverly Winds and Ranleagh Court.

Next month, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the sorority will sponsor voter registration events at housing developments for seniors.
