School band finishes third in competition

The Westminster High School Owls marching band placed third in its division in Middletown High School's "A Knight in the Valley Tournament of Bands" competition on Saturday.

The band scored 81.15 and placed third among Group 2 bands of 36 to 55 musicians. The Owls also earned the best marching and maneuvering award.

The Owls will perform this weekend at homecoming activities. The next competition is Oct. 21 at Francis Scott Key High.

Police

Westminster: A resident of Kate Wagner Road reported that someone broke into his car and stole property while the vehicle was on East George Street on Tuesday. He estimated the loss at $200.

Fire

Westminster: Westminster and Reese investigated a fire alarm in the first block of Wimert Ave. at 12:57 a.m. Wednesday. Units were out for 24 minutes.

Westminster: Westminster responded to a trash fire at the 140 Village Shopping Center at 6:46 p.m. Tuesday. Units were out for 14 minutes.
