'equality'

October 12, 1995|By Carlos Raphael Greenlee

On one side of the city

there are manicured lawns

and pampered gardens

on the other side of the city

there are dirty nails

and myriad grimy faces

on one side of the city

all have the luxury

of a formal education

(the ads, for which, cover their cars' rear windows)

and yet, on another side

of this same city

none have yet to attend school

no, not one single generation
