Police arrest man after finding drugs in truck

October 11, 1995

A Baltimore man was arrested on drug charges Saturday after marijuana was found in a pickup truck, police said.

An officer saw a man searching the bed of the truck on Harrison Square in Glen Burnie about 10 p.m., police said. When the man saw the officer, he began to walk away.

The officer told the man to come back and asked him what he was doing. The man said he was looking through a tool bag for some cassettes, police said. When the officer looked in the truck bed, he saw five bags containing a little more than an ounce of a substance that police said later tested positive for marijuana.

Randall Eugene Smith, 19, of the 4300 block of McDowell Lane was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Police said the suspect confessed later that he bought the drugs in Baltimore and was taking them to a party he was attending in the neighborhood.
