Church history to go on view

October 04, 1995

THIRTY-TWO OF Baltimore's most historic churches and synagogues will celebrate the visit of John Paul II by holding open houses, tours and musical programs to showcase the city's rich religious heritage.

Set for Saturday and Sunday after-noons, the program represents one of the most comprehensive tours of ecclesiastical architecture ever organized in Baltimore.

"I'm delighted that so many communities are willing to open their doors," said Cardinal William H. Keeler, archbishop of Baltimore. "We are pleased to have these houses of faith ready for the public to explore as part of the pope's visit."
