25 years ago (week of Sept. 20-26, 1970)

Four new Howard County police officers were sworn in this week. Among them was Herman L. Charity, Howard's first black officer.

50 years ago (week of Sept. 23-29, 1945)

The Fulton Homemakers Club met at the home of Mrs. Herman Wessel. New officers were elected, and the winners of the canning contest were announced.
