Rockfield Park to be dedicated Saturday

Harford County high school students, community organizations, volunteers, and town, county and state officials will dedicate Rockfield Park, with activities planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the park, on Route 22 between Ewing Street and John Carroll School in Bel Air.

Ceremonies will be followed by walking tours of the park's nine garden areas, and entertainment will be provided by the Bel Air Community Bank.

The gardens each have a theme including an Evergreen Garden, Bulb Garden, Tuber Garden, Wildflower Garden and Butterfly Garden. A Garden for the Senses was specially designed for the visually impaired.

The gardens, designed by landscape architect Katherine Aldrich Adams, were a cooperative effort between the county's Department of Parks and Recreation, the Town of Bel Air, and organizations, schools, businesses and students.

The Bel Air Community Band will also perform at 2 p.m..
