Where can I find information on "big" items? I have seen a pencil approximately 6 feet long, and a judge's gavel of the same size. I want to obtain a "big" item for a friend, and would like to know of a firm I can contact to get what I want.

A really "big" deal for collectors who dig big, tall or small items is Noel Barrett's Oversize, Undersize and Advertising Auction. It's set for 2 p.m. Oct. 7 and noon Oct. 8 (with viewing at 10 a.m. both days) at Deer Park Pavilion, one mile south of New Hope, Pa., just off Route 202.

A catalog picturing and describing more than 750 lots (from which one can bid by mail, phone, or in person) is available for $30 postpaid from Noel Barrett Antiques & Auctions Ltd., P.O. Box, 1001, Carversville, Pa. 18913, or phone (215) 297-5109 for details or travel directions.

You can FAX catalog orders for VISA or MasterCard to (215) 297-0457.
