Today

Atholton (2-1) at Howard (3-0)

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: The Lions came from behind to defeat Frederick (1-1), 26-20, in overtime. Quarterback Chris Poling scored the tying touchdown and ran the option well. The Raiders trounced Lansdowne (1-2), 37-0, while rushing for 190 yards and passing for 85. Lavar Macon was the leading rusher with 74 yards on six carries. Last season Howard defeated Atholton, 34-22.

Tomorrow

Mount Hebron (2-1) at Wilde Lake (2-1)

Time: 2 p.m.

Outlook: The Wildecats struggled to defeat Southern-AA last week, 13-6. Dain Lewis rushed 32 times for 166 yards and quarterback Jeff Johnson completed 4 of 8 passes for 49 yards. Mount Hebron lost to Liberty, 49-6, and gave up 430 yards rushing, including touchdown runs of 91, 78 and 69 yards. Scott Kelly led Mount Hebron with 54 yards rushing. Last season Wilde Lake defeated Mount Hebron, 34-0.

Hammond (3-0) at Gleneleg (2-1)

Time: 2 p.m.

Outlook: The Bears rolled over Rockville, 35-0, as QB Tim Spruill rushed for 101 yards, passed for 85 yards and scored two touchdowns -- one on a 75-yard punt return. FB Ron Gamble rushed for 65 yards and RB Josh Zillmer for 48 yards, and both caught two passes. LB Gamble also made a fumble recovery. Ball control will be a key factor for Glenelg, which upset South Carroll last week, 21-20. RB Jeremy Lignelli (74 carries, 406 yards) rushed for 131 yards and FB Danny Garland for 66. QB Beau Pich completed 12 of 20 passes for 118 yards. Doug Gasch leads the area in receiving with 14 catches for 209 yards. Hammond defeated Glenelg last season, 26-21.

Centennial (2-1) at No. 7 Oakland Mills (1-2)

Time: 2 p.m.

Outlook: The Scorpions were preseason favorites to repeat as county champs, but they must be having some doubts after two straight close losses to Linganore and Thomas Johnson. QB Irving Conwell completed 11 of 18 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns, but he lost three fumbles and threw an interception. He's thrown four interceptions. The running game was hampered in the 25-22 loss to Thomas Johnson because all three tailbacks had sprained ankles. Centennial must pressure Conwell and Antiwan Jones (nine catches 212 yards), the Scorpions' most dangerous receiver. Centennial dominated North Carroll last week, 20-6. Scott Bross rushed 29 times for 174 yards and one touchdown. QB John Webster completed 6 of 11 passes for 98 yards and one touchdown. Oakland Mills defeated Centennial last season, 48-12.
