Mervo (2-1)at No. 3 Patterson (3-0)

Time: 3:30 p.m.

Outlook: Mervo, a 33-0 loser to Patterson in last year's City 4A league clash, is much improved. Behind RB Andrew Scott (337 yards rushing, four TDs), DB Dante Briley (an area-leading four interceptions), DB Antonio Silva (two interceptions) and linemen that average 230 pounds offensively and 220 defensively, the Mustangs (1-0 league) have a two-game winning streak. Patterson (2-0 league), which has allowed only 14 points, relies on RB Dwayne Simmons (461 yards rushing, eight TDs), LB Rahim Booth (6-1, 227) and linemen Terry Otto (262) and Pat Stafford (278).

Milford Mill (2-1) at Forest Park (1-2)

Time: 3:30 p.m.

Outlook: It's early, but 2A playoff aspirations are on the line in this nonleague contest. Forest Park has lost two straight to No. 10 City, 27-24, and No. 12 Poly, 28-22, after holding early leads. The Millers have a nice backfield tandem with Brandon Scarborough (369 rushing, four TDs) and David Bazemore (309, three), and Scarborough leads area punters with a 47-yard average. The Foresters have a more balanced offense with the backfield of Aaron Thompson (324, two) and Sharif Small (228, two), WR Calvin Thurmond (11 receptions, 200 yards, one TD) and QB Andrian Griffin (346 passing yards, two TDs).

No. 8 Aberdeen (2-1) at South River (2-1)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: Aberdeen, last year's Harford County co-champ, has a two-game winning streak since losing its season-opener to No. 7 Oakland Mills, 27-6. South River has a two-game winning streak since losing its season-opener to Lackey, 25-0, but is coming off a 35-12 win over Surrattsville in which RB Tom McCaffrey (338 rushing, two TDs) covered 132 yards, and QB Phil Tayman scored three TDs. Aberdeen counters with E.J. Henderson (32 tackles) and the backfield of Dondre Gilliam (301 rushing, three TDs) and Keith Marshall (148, one) average 8.1 yards and 11.4 yards per carry, respectively.

No. 4 C. Milton Wright (3-0) at Fallston (3-0)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: Defending Harford County co-champ C. Milton Wright takes its nice offensive package against county rival Fallston (2-0 league). For Fallston, RB Matt Sutphin and RB Mark Rhoten have combined for 464 yards and five TDs. Defensively, Rhoten (23 tackles), Mike Levy (26) and Mark Diggs (20) lead the way. Mustang QB Todd Shilow (273 passing, three TDs) has solid receivers in All-Metro Duane Fisher (six receptions, 142 yards, three TDs, 23.7 avg.), Pete Fountain and Chris Russell. RB Todd Behler (238 rushing) averages 4.8 yards a carry, and LB Ted May (31 tackles) leads C. Milton Wright's defense.

No. 1 Mount St. Joseph (3-0) at St. Mary's (2-1)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: Coach Mike Working takes Mount St. Joseph's nickel offense to Anne Arundel County to play St. Mary's in its first MIAA A Conference game. RB Archie Wannamaker (624 yards, 11 TDs) and QB Lucas Phillips (406 passing, four TDs) lead the Gaels. St. Mary's has QB Grace (205 passing, three TDs), RB Reed (487, four TDs) and RB Ernie Listman (208 yards).

Tomorrow

No. 9 Perry Hall (2-1) at Dulaney (2-1)

Time: 1 p.m.

Outlook: QB Kevin Znamirowski (602 passing yards, seven TDs) tops area quarterbacks and leads the Gators (2-0 league) against Dulaney in a Baltimore County 3A-4A Division game. His favorite targets are Kamau McCray (10 catches, 166 yards, two TDs), Hunter (10, 127, one) and Chris Zorn (seven, 130, three). But the Lions (2-0 league) counter with QB Cliff Berger (276 yards, two TDs).
