Cashier defeats armed assailant

September 26, 1995

A cashier at a High's store in Brooklyn Park thwarted a knife-wielding assailant's robbery attempt Sunday when she refused to give in to his demands, county police said.

A man wearing a white bandanna over his face walked into the store in the 700 block of Church St. at 10:40 p.m., police said. He pointed a knife at the cashier and told her to give him all the money in the register.

The cashier refused and called out to a fellow employee for help. The suspect drove away in a white car, police said.

The would-be bandit is a 6-foot-1 white male with long blond hair. He was wearing a blue flannel shirt and stone-washed jeans.
