New positions

Nola promoted at Dingman Center

Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship, located at the University of Maryland College Park, announced that Sandra Nola has been appointed assistant director. Among her previous responsibilities at the center were the mentor program and the Mid-Atlantic Investment Network. A graduate of Penn State, she has experience in real estate development, construction telecommunications, consulting, marketing and defense contracting, and she has a background of 15 years of working with entrepreneurs and small companies.

Behnke Nurseries Co., with operations in Beltsville and Largo, selected Sonja Behnke Festerling president. She was in charge of advertising and marketing and had been a vice president and treasurer. She joined in the daily operation of the successful family-run business in 1950. She succeeds her brother Roland Behnke, who has retired.

WMAR picks Grant as public affairs chief

WMAR-TV, the Baltimore ABC affiliate, has chosen Lori M. Grant as public affairs director. A 1993 winner of the Maggie Media Award, she was a producer, writer and on-air personality at WHSW-TV, Channel 24, where she also served in the news and production departments.

Pettit heads sales for WCBM radio

WCBM, the Owings Mills-based talk radio station chose Bob Pettit as general sales manager. Most recently he held the position of national sales manager for WLIF radio.

Fenwick joins Gray Kirk/VanSant

Gray Kirk/VanSant named Peter R. Fenwick an account executive for the Baltimore ad and public relations house. Formerly an account executive with Riggs, Counselman, Michaels & Downs, he is a graduate of Catholic University and is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Loyola College.

Sullivan joins Shandwick/Adams Sandler

Shandwick/Adams Sandler announced that Michael P. Sullivan joined the agency as a public relations senior account executive. He comes to the Baltimore marketing and public relations firm from the Washington office of Edelman Public Relations.

First National Bank makes key appointments

First National Bank of Maryland announced the appointment of Robert. P. O'Hara, career mortgage banker and a director of the Maryland Mortgage Bankers Association, as president of First National Mortgage Corp. The bank also selected Christian E. Romer as regional vice president for Western Maryland, Clayton F. Bollack Jr. as a vice president, trust division and Kenneth P. Crawford to a vice presidency in the commercial real estate division.

Mr. Romer, a Middletown resident and graduate of Gettysburg College, has been with the bank for 10 years. Mr. Bollack, responsible for the marketing data base of the trust division, graduated from Johns Hopkins University and has completed post graduate computer and business courses. Mr. Crawford graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder and resides in Columbia.

Dean Witter Reynolds has chosen Mark A. Stull as an account executive in its Baltimore office.

Stenberg named dean at U. of Baltimore

University of Baltimore announced that Carl W. Stenberg has been selected as dean of the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts. A specialist in public administration, intergovernmental relations and state government, he comes to UB from the University of Virginia, where he was director of the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.

Mr. Stenberg is a past president of the American Society for Public Administration and recently won an award from the PTC American Library Association for a book he co-authored. He is a graduate of Allegheny College and earned both his master's and doctoral degrees from the State University of New York at Albany.

Stegman & Co., regional accountants and management consultants, announced the appoint ments of Thomas Bell to senior accountant and Jackie Sozio to supervisor. A Baldwin resident, she holds a degree from Wake Forest University and is assigned to the firm's Columbia office. Mr. Bell, a Cockeysville resident and graduate of the University of Baltimore, is assigned to the Towson office.

North Arundel Health System, the operators of North Arundel Hospital, announced that Patricia Rutley has been named manager of health education and wellness for its managed health care company, New American Health. A resident of Pasadena, she holds a health science degree from Towson State and a master's in health care administration from the University of Maryland.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Maryland has named Renee' S. Frazier director of corporate strategic planning. The former vice president of the managed care division and of operations and projects for the Oxon Hill-based Health Management Resources, she will be responsible for consolidating planning for the company, including HMO subsidiaries. The Owings Mills resident a graduate of George Washington University.

MIE Properties names Nevin manager

MIE Properties has selected Darrell Nevin, formerly of the Rouse Co., as executive property manager.

Nottingham picks Credit as vice president

Nottingham Properties announced that J. Joseph Credit was chosen senior vice president and director of commercial development.
