Barnd to quit WBFF for anchor job in Boston

September 23, 1995|By David Zurawik

WBFF anchorman Jeff Barnd will be leaving the station around Dec. 1 for Boston, where he will be first-string anchor at WLVI, an independent station.

"It's been a great ride, and taking this Boston gig has been one of the toughest decisions I ever had to make," Barnd said Thursday.

He has been the top anchorman at WBFF (Channel 45) since 1991, when the local Fox affiliate started doing news.

Barnd won a local Emmy last year.

"Jeff has done a great job for us, and I'm happy for him, because this is a great opportunity for him. But I'm going to miss him," said Joe DeFeo, the news director at WBFF.

Bridge Work

We're interested in your opinion of the bridge column that now appears in The Sun's Classifieds. We now run Steve Becker's bridge column, which used to appear in The Evening Sun. Do you like it? Or would you rather read the column by Alfred Sheinwold and Frank Stewart, which ran in The Sun? If you are a bridge player and like one column better than the other, vote for your favorite by calling Sundial at (410) 783-1800 and entering the 4-digit code 6217.
