Saturday's annual autumn fair features food, entertainment

Visit the third annual autumn fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at Chesapeake High School.

The event, sponsored by the Chesapeake High School Band Boosters, features one-stop shopping for fall decorating supplies, plus family-style fun, food and entertainment.

All ages will enjoy visiting the pumpkin patch or creating a scarecrow to take home. Fall mums, cornstalks, Indian corn, gourds and pumpkins will be for sale.

Youngsters can ride a pony, meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse, watch fire department and police K-9 demonstrations, or defy gravity in the moon bounce.

Food and refreshments will be sold. A bake table and flea market area also will be featured.

Proceeds will be used to purchase new band instruments, music and costumes, and for traveling expenses.


Pasadena Elementary Cluster Girl Scout Troops are sponsoring a flea market from 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow at at 230 Armstrong Lane, off Magothy Bridge Road.

Proceeds will help pay for a community camp outing in early October at Camp Woodlands.

The Ladies Guild of Magothy-Chelsea Community Lutheran Church will have its monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. tomorrow at the church.

The menu features pancakes, eggs any style, sausage, French toast, creamed chipped beef, toast, homemade biscuits, juice, fruit and a beverage.

The cost is $4 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 4 through 12. Youngsters under 4 eat for free.

Parents of students at Northeast and Chesapeake high schools can visit their teen-agers' classes next week, as both schools will have back-to-school night at 7 p.m. Thursday.

In addition to meeting staff and touring the school, parents visiting Northeast will have the opportunity to join the PTSA, Music Boosters or Athletic Boosters, and find out more about volunteer openings.

Faith United Methodist Church on Duvall Highway will conduct an outdoor "Blessing of the Animals" service at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The Rev. Barbara Vercelli said the service is open to the community.

The church also offers a worship service on Thursdays, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
