The old god Neptune will be happy to rise up from the sea for this event. It bears his name and attracts thousands of people to Virginia Beach for three weeks of nonstop activities and family fun along the city beachfront.

Neptune Festival XXII continues through Oct. 1 with two more giant weekends of free festivities. This weekend, the world-famous Navy Blue Angels will dazzle the crowd with aerobatic maneuvers at the Festival Air Show. The show is an all-day event this Saturday and Sunday, featuring the Star Acrobatic Team of stunt planes, remote control demonstrations, a glider show and a lot more.

The festival's final weekend is the biggest of all with a three-day Boardwalk Celebration Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. Here's what you'll find: Three oceanfront stages of musical entertainment, a sand castle contest, arts and craft show, a youth art show, surfing classic, sailboat race, children's games and contest, a grand parade, lots of food and fireworks. Call (804) 498-0215 or, for reservations, call (800) VA BEACH.
