Man found guilty of drug charge

September 20, 1995

A Sykesville man has been found guilty of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute after appearing in Carroll County Circuit Court without an attorney.

Bryan Keith Lord, 30, agreed Monday to have prosecutors read a statement of facts that would convict him of having 448.2 grams (just less than a pound) of marijuana in his car on Feb. 7.

In exchange, prosecutors dropped other drug charges against Lord. This was the second time Lord, of the 1300 block of Woodridge Lane, had appeared before Circuit Judge Raymond E. Beck Sr. without an attorney.

Police said Lord was driving a 1986 Ford van when his friend, Garrick Harrison Hoffman, shot a pellet of pink paint out of a blowgun, striking a resident on Marriottsville Road.

Police responded to the vandalism call and stopped the two men in the van about 30 minutes later. The drug was found in two plastic bags during a search of the van.

Lord is to be sentenced Nov. 8.
