Man charged in breaking and entering

A man was arrested Saturday and charged with assaulting a Harundale woman and breaking into her house, county police said.

Jamie Lee Guy called police about 3:30 a.m. Saturday after her 12-year-old daughter and her 11-year-old friend heard a banging in the front of the house, the police report said.

The girls looked out the window and saw a man attempting to open a bedroom window, then another window and a sliding glass door in the rear of the house, police said.

When police arrived, the man ran, but he was caught by Officer Paul W. Conner. Ms. Guy told police she had seen the man, shortly after midnight at the Speak Easy Bar in the 7600 block of Baltimore Annapolis Blvd.

The man got into a fight with his girlfriend in the parking lot of the bar, and Ms. Guy told bouncers about the fight, police said. The man thew something at Ms. Guy, hitting her in the chest, and told her that he would get even with her, police said.

Christopher Todd Barnes, 39, of the 100 block of South Meadow Drive in Harundale was charged with battery and breaking and entering.

Man charged in shoplifting

A Lutherville man was charged Sunday with stealing $63 worth of calculators and deodorant from the Caldor store in the 7300 block of Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Glen Burnie, county police said.

A store security officer told police he saw a man remove two calculators from a display in the store and walk out just before 4:30 p.m. The security guard stopped him in the parking lot and called police.

Police arrested Robert Timothy Womeldorf, 38, of the 100 block of Greenridge Road and charged him with theft.
