ELMONT, N.Y. -- On the day after he won the Woodward Stakes for his 10th straight victory, Maryland-bred Cigar was declared fit yesterday and likely to run in the Jockey Club Gold Cup in three weeks as his final dress rehearsal for the Breeders' Cup.

"He's doing really good this morning," said Tim Jones, the deputy to trainer Bill Mott. "He ate everything up. There wasn't an oat left. It looked as though the race didn't take anything out of him."
