From the publisher

Welcome to the redesigned Sun. Our goal is to publish a newspaper that provides comprehensive coverage and is well-organized and easy to read. Although we've changed The Sun's design, our commitment to local news coverage and in-depth and investigative reporting remains the foundation of The Baltimore Sun.

We think the new Sun has a distinctly Baltimorean look, drawing on the traditions of The Sun and The Evening Sun. We've taken the best-loved features from both and blended them into a better newspaper. We hope you agree.

We've added more news and features, too, including a separate business section with more news space, more coverage of Baltimore and Baltimore County, more comics, and a revamped entertainment section on Thursdays. Overall, we've added 14 pages of news, spread Monday through Friday.

We've produced a separate Readers' Guide, Section E in today's paper, to walk you through the new Sun.

The Sun you're reading today is the result of comments heard during more than 7,500 interviews with readers in the past two years. We're eager to hear your opinions. If you have a comment or questions, please call the phone numbers listed on the front page of the Readers' Guide.

We are excited about the changes we've made and look forward to being your newspaper in the future. Thank you for reading The Sun.

We're proud to be your newspaper.
