Information about pope's visit available on-line

September 16, 1995|By John Rivera

Organizers of Pope John Paul II's Baltimore trip have taken to the Internet to publicize the visit.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore has established a site on the Internet's World Wide Web that will be updated continually with information as the pope's Oct. 8 visit approaches. The address is http://www.popevisit.com.

Computer users who visit the web site -- web software is required -- will find details on the pope's day in Baltimore, biographical information on the pope and local church figures and historical background on the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

After the visit, the site will be updated with speeches, photos and other information on what happened that day. It also will be possible to order official merchandise associated with the papal visit, including the souvenir program, and a commemorative book and video.

In January, the site will be reconfigured and used as a communications medium for the archdiocese.
