A Prince George's County man was held on $50,000 bond on charges of stealing lawn equipment and landscaping tools on Wednesday, according to District Court papers.

A man was apprehended after a short foot chase by state police after a stolen van was stopped in Mount Airy early Wednesday morning.

Police said the van was observed in the 900 block of Ridgeville Blvd. by Cpl. Palmer Grotte and stopped several blocks away. The driver fled but was captured a short time later.

Officers said a lawn tractor, two grass trimmers and two leaf blowers were stolen from a shed in the 900 block of Ridgeville Blvd. and the tools from a truck in the 1500 block of E. Ridgeville Blvd. Investigators said the van had been stolen in Hagerstown, and charges are pending in Washington County.

Jose O. Berrios, 22, of Adelphi, was charged in the thefts and with failure to appear on a previous charge, police said. Bail of $2,500 was set on the failure to appear charge.
