Armed man robs Ellicott City gas station

An armed man robbed an Ellicott City gas station Monday night, Howard County police said.

About 9:30 p.m., a man with a small-caliber revolver demanded money from the gas attendant at the St. Johns Amoco station in the 9100 block of Baltimore National Pike. The attendant complied and the robber fled on foot.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build and long, brown hair worn in a ponytail. He was wearing a dirty white or gray shirt and blue jeans.

No one was injured during the robbery.

* Ellicott City: 3200 block of Normandy Woods Drive: Someone used a rock to break the rear window of a home and took a locked box of cash Monday.

6800 block of Waterloo Road: Upon returning home from an out-of-town trip Thursday, a resident found stereo equipment and CDs missing. The apartment was unlocked and a screen was removed from a bedroom window.

9500 block of Old Annapolis Road: A 1992 four-door, tan Honda Accord with Maryland plates 737-AVC was taken Monday.

3100 block of West Springs Drive: A 1982 two-door, turquoise Buick Riviera with Maryland plates ZVR-732 was taken Sunday or Monday.

Someone tried to steal a 1981 Pontiac Gran Prix by breaking its steering column.

* Elkridge: 7300 block of Roosevelt Blvd.: Someone entered Smokey's Pit Barbeque and tried to steal coins from a gum ball machine Friday or Saturday, police said.

6600 block of Business Parkway: A 1992 Dodge Shadow stolen Monday was recovered the same night in Baltimore City.
