1994 Chateau Ducla 'Experience II' Entre-Deux-Mers ($13)

WINE OF THE WEEK

September 13, 1995|By Michael Dresser

If beautiful scenery ensured great wine, the Entre-Deux-Mers area of Bordeaux would be a famous wine region. Alas, the wine quality doesn't usually live up to the majesty of this region's rolling hills. This "reserve" wine of the reliable Chateau Ducla does, however. It exhibits the body and complexity one usually associates with the great white wines of Graves. There's a creamy peach-pear component and hints of melon and figs along with chalky mineral notes that add complexity. This vibrant wine from the large shipper Yvon Mau is an exceptional value.
