Driver seriously injured when car strikes tree

September 12, 1995

An Ellicott City man was seriously injured when his car went off Meadowridge Road in Elkridge and struck a tree early Saturday, Howard County police said.

Gregory T. Hill, 44, of the 8100 block of Brightlink Court, was listed in fair condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

About 2:30 a.m., Mr. Hill -- who was not wearing a seat belt -- was thrown part of the way out of a 1993 Nissan 300 ZX when he lost control while driving west on Meadowridge Road near Business Parkway.

He crossed into the eastbound lanes and went off the road, and the passenger side of the car hit a tree.

Police said speed and driver error were factors in the accident.
